What Is We Love 45s?

We Love 45s is an award winning global events series built around one simple idea: bringing people together through a shared love of 7 inch vinyl.

Launched in August 2021, We Love 45s is the live events arm of 45 Day. We collaborate with DJs, vinyl collectors, record fairs, venues and creative communities around the world to deliver inclusive, community led events celebrating 45s culture.

From London to Amsterdam, Panama to Australia, we've taken 7 inch vinyl events to over 40 cities worldwide...and we're only just getting started.

All Generations. One Format.

We proudly platform DJs from every generation.

From the 45 Kids discovering vinyl for the first time, to teenagers, DJs in their 20s, 30s and 40s refining their craft, through to selectors in their 50s and 60s who grew up with the format. We Love 45s is intergenerational by design.

While the world feels increasingly divided, we are bringing the globe together through 7 inch vinyl.

Music is the common language. 45s are the connector.

Community, Culture and Mental Health

At its heart, We Love 45s is about creating open, welcoming spaces where inclusivity and positive mental health are core values.

Our events go beyond the dancefloor.

Alongside DJs spinning 45rpm records, you'll find:

45 Kids Showcases
Record Fairs
Streetwear Collaborations
Breakdancers
Visual Artists
Live Visuals
Street Food
Brewery Collabs

This is more than a DJ night. It is a community movement rooted in connection, joy and creative expression.

What Are 45s?

45s are 7 inch vinyl records played at 45 revolutions per minute.

They are compact, punchy and built for impact. A format that shaped decades of music culture across soul, funk, reggae, hip hop, disco, pop and beyond.

As Rodriga Rockmore put it:

"The greatest musical format of all time. It spins faster, plays louder, and sounds better than digital."

Glasgow

The story of We love 45s began in Glasgow, where the first event took place under the shadow of COVID restrictions in August 2021. Despite the challenges, DJs came together for the first irl ‘Sunday 7’s’ event, hosted at Some Great Reward Record Shop

Sunday 7s was a monthly online Twitch stream and community created to raise awareness of and funds for a number of men’s mental health charities.

The event was a dual broadcast, streaming live on Twitch and Radio Buena Vida, and was organised in collaboration with WeeG. This marked the start of what would become a thriving community and celebration of 7″ vinyl.

We returned to Glasgow in August 2022 for another exciting Sunday 7’s session, this time at Vinyl Bar, organised by Nic Goodlife which was also live streamed on Twitch. The event brought together local 45s DJs and featured a set by ZIzi45 representing the 45 Kids.

In 2024, Glasgow hosted another memorable one-day event at McChuills, once again organised by WeeG. The vibrant atmosphere and passionate community demonstrated Glasgow’s ongoing importance as a hub for the We Love 45s movement.

London

The story continued in March 2022 with the first post-COVID Twitch 45s community event, once again under the banner of ‘Sunday 7s.’ Organised in collaboration with Kut Class, this landmark event took place at The Star of Kings in London, bringing together 45s DJs from across the UK for a full day of music and connection.

For many, it was the first chance to meet in person after years of virtual interactions, making the day particularly special. The event also introduced a small record sale — a first for We Love 45s — creating an added layer of engagement for attendees to explore and trade their love of vinyl.

Edinburgh

Building on this momentum, just one month later in April 2022, We Love 45s collaborated with Scottieboyuk to launch its first multi-day 45s event in Edinburgh. This ground breaking event marked a major milestone, expanding the format from single-day events to multi-day celebrations of 7″ vinyl culture, featuring DJs, networking, and record trading opportunities.

We returned to Edinburgh in July 2022 for another multi-day 45s event and returned again in August 2023 at a new venue, further solidifying Edinburgh as a key location for We Love 45s events.

Brighton

In January 2023, the name We Love 45s was officially established, marking a new chapter in celebrating 7″ vinyl culture. Our first event under this name took place at The Druids in Brighton, a vibrant night that doubled as DeeJayFade’s birthday celebration. This inaugural event, organised in collaboration with Colm Des, set the tone for what We Love 45s would become — a platform to bring people together through music and community.

Since then, We Love 45s has expanded its reach in Brighton, hosting in-store events at Rarekind Records (where the 45 Kids performed as part of the 4.5 years of 45 Day celebrations) and Capsule Records, The Foundry, alongside regular sessions at The Windmill.

These events have not only fostered a sense of community but have also inspired the creation of standalone events spearheaded by the DJs involved, further spreading the love for 7″ vinyl.

Cambridge

Cambridge has quickly become an important hub for We Love 45s events, bringing together local DJs, vinyl enthusiasts, and local communities to celebrate 7″ records in unique and vibrant settings. The journey began in February 2023 in collaboration with Miss Chivers with the first all-day event, featuring memorable sets from the 45 Kids and a record fair.

Building on this success, a one-day festival followed at The Missing Sock in September 2023, headlined by the legendary A-Skillz and Mr. Thing. This dynamic event included a skate ramp, live street artists, an art gallery, and a craft area, creating a multi-faceted experience for attendees.

Later that year, Cambridge hosted a festive Christmas party at a local skate shop.

In 2024, Cambridge played a central role in 45 Day celebrations, hosting a dedicated event on the day itself that further established its importance in the 45s community.

This was followed by another standout one-day festival in September 2024 adding Heavy Soul as collaborators and headlined by the incredible Smoove, solidifying Cambridge as a vibrant English hub for We Love 45s events.

Glastonbury Festival

In June 2022, We Love 45s made its mark at the legendary Glastonbury Festival, bringing the infectious energy of 7″ vinyl to two exciting locations. The event featured dynamic performances by Criztoz (founder of 45 Day) and Sam Tweaks, who delivered unforgettable sets that celebrated the rich culture of 45s.

The journey began at the SS Broke Britain crew bar in the gritty and immersive Unfairground area, followed by an electrifying expansion to the Rum & Firkin public bar near the vibrant West Holts Stage, reaching a diverse audience of festival-goers.

In addition to the live performances, the event was documented through three talk shows, with Sam Tweaks and Criztoz sharing insights about their Glastonbury experience both before and after the festival. These conversations offered a behind-the-scenes look at their preparation, the energy of the festival, and the magic of 45s in such a unique setting.

This milestone event not only showcased the artistry and community spirit of We Love 45s but also highlighted its ability to connect with music lovers on a global stage, leaving an unforgettable impression on one of the world’s most iconic festivals.

Chester & Manchester

In July 2023, We Love 45s kicked off its first-ever multi-day, multi-city event with an incredible night in Chester. Partnering with T2Funk, Rebel Skum, and Regulate RecordingsThe night was filled with soulful grooves and infectious energy, introducing Chester to the unique culture of 7″ vinyl.

The celebration continued on Saturday night in Manchester, in collaboration with Mister Salt. Although rain disrupted the event, we quickly adapted by relocating to Air Adam‘s house, where we hosted an impromptu Twitch stream. Another memorable night of music, showcasing the artistry and passion of DJs spinning 45s in one of the UK’s most iconic music cities.

This dual-city event was a major milestone for We Love 45s, highlighting the growing community and expanding its reach across multiple locations.

Joy Revolution Weekend

The Joy Revolution Weekend launched in July 2023 at the picturesque Little Down Ash campsite in Hailsham, offering a unique blend of music, creativity, and family-friendly activities. Its success paved the way for a second edition in August 2024, further cementing its place as a must-attend event for music lovers and families alike.

This 3-day event brought together DJs from the 45 Day / We Love 45s community, delivering captivating sets that showcased the rich culture of 7″ vinyl. The event also featured sessions by the 45 Kids, including a standout kids’ DJ workshop where the 45 Kids taught other children the art of DJing, inspiring the next generation of vinyl enthusiasts.

Complementing the music were circus skills workshops from Sweet Circus, poster-making and craft sessions, creating a space for creativity and collaboration, while the VW camper van cocktail bar and local food vendors added to the relaxed, festive vibe.

Stoke

We Love 45s expanded its reach to Stoke in September 2023, with an event organised by Mister Salt. This memorable gathering ran simultaneously with the Cambridge one-day festival, showcasing the strength and unity of the We Love 45s community.

The following year, in September 2024, Stoke once again played a pivotal role in the We Love 45s journey. It was one of three cities -alongside Cambridge and Panama City – to host simultaneous We Love 45s events. The Stoke event highlighted the city’s growing importance in the vinyl scene and reinforced the collaborative spirit that defines We Love 45s.

Worthing & Broadfest

We Love 45s expanded to Worthing in September 2023, collaborating with Benny Gogz for our debut at Broadfest, where we hosted the second stage. This event showcased DJ sets from the We Love 45s community and featured headline performances by the 45 Kids, making it a standout moment for both music lovers and families.

Building on this success, we partnered with Benny to organise additional events at Block Forest Row in Worthing, further establishing a vibrant local presence. This collaboration extended to Spun Records, where we teamed up with Rob to host a 45 Day 2024 event, followed by another memorable We Love 45s gathering in August 2024.

In September 2024, we returned to Broadfest, reinforcing our role as a key part of the festival’s lineup.

We closed the year with a final celebration at the stylish Vudu Cocktail Bar.

Belfast

In October 2023, We Love 45s partnered with Pete Brady from the Superfly Funk & Soul Club to host our first event in Northern Ireland at the legendary Ulster Sports Club in Belfast.

This debut event featured an outstanding lineup of DJs from the We Love 45s community, blending the soulful sounds of Superfly Funk & Soul with the vibrant energy of 7″ vinyl culture.

The collaboration marked a significant milestone for We Love 45s, extending its reach to a new audience and laying the foundation for future events in Northern Ireland.

Panama

In April 2024, We Love 45s held its most ambitious and far-reaching event to date – and its first international edition – in collaboration with Malong from The Asymetrics at El Cangrejo Radio.

This multi-day celebration kicked off with a private party, followed by and an in-store live stream as part of US 45 Day at LongPlay Record Store. The festivities continued with a headline set by Criztoz and an after-party back-to-back session with Malong, both hosted at Collectivo.

The main event took place at El Cangrejo Radio on April 6, 2024, featuring 12 hours of non-stop 45s. The lineup included 15 DJs of all genders and ages, record sellers, food from Anti Burger, craft beer from Chorrea X, and performances by the Off Limits dance crew.

All sets were broadcast live on Twitch via El Cangrejo Radio and Forty Five Day, allowing audiences around the world to join the celebration.

This was part of a bigger online event, 45 Hours of 45s, curated by Criztoz, including show 145 of the award-winning 45s show Coffee & Donuts.

Hamburg

Back in Europe, Criztoz’s simple idea in July 2023 to have a 45s boat party in Hamburg led to a collaboration with Svolanski, and the concept and plan for a 3-day 45s event in the city was born and launched in October 2023.

After months of planning, fast forward to April 2024 and the collaboration with Naughty NMX / the 45 Soulciety, and the initial simple idea became a 3-day, 30 DJ, 6-venue celebration of 7″ vinyl. 11 out of the thirty DJs were from the 45 Day community.

45 Day 2024 & More

For 45 Day 2024, we hosted 4 simultaneous 45s events at venues in Cambridge, Manningtree, Reading, and Worthing.

This was followed on September 7, 2024, by 3 simultaneous 45s parties held in Cambridge, Stoke, and Panama.

Closing 2024

At the end of 2024, We Love 45s had the privilege of being part of the Racquet Studios Christmas corporate event, a memorable celebration featuring stellar performances by Jawa Jones, Benny Gogz, and Criztoz. The event showcased the DJs’ talents on a top-tier sound system, complemented by an impressive professional LED panel, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
