Pinkie Tuscadero

Shamika Sykes (PKA Pinkie Tuscadero) is a Journalist/DJ who has always carried a white-hot passion for music.

She started as a DJ in 2002 and played on the local scene in 2008 until she was offered the opportunity to tour with Barbara Tucker (“Beautiful People”) on her Summer European Tour in 2011. Since then, she has opened for DJs such as DJs Spinna, Chuck Chillout, and a slew more.

Seeing writing as one of her other loves, Shamika decided to get her feet wet in journalism in 2010 when she started her blog called Memoirs of a Party Girl, writing her reviews on music and even interviewing up-and-coming artists as well as DJs. In 2013, she became one of the many writers for the famed Jack Thriller site, where she learned to hone in more on her interviews. She has contributed her writing skills to many music sites. Still, her firecracker personality and unfiltered outlook on the music scene make her one of the most outspoken people in the indie industry.

Shamika is not only a writer for the lifestyle publication, Urban Magazine, but she is also a writer for the hip-hop publication, Validated Magazine as well as a host and correspondent for the pop/nerd culture site, Tough Nerd Toys. She has with her over 10 years of independent artists, hip hop legends, fashion week runway coverage, and stars of some of TV’s top shows with no signs of slowing down…and yes, she still spins to this very day!

She is currently part of the YNVS DJs Coalition and you can check her out on her Twitch page and the Delicious Vinyl Channel on Dash Radio!
