Forty Five Kings – 24 Hour Live Stream – 26 July 2020
About a month ago I suggested to Rob (DJ Lob) – creator of the Forty Five Kings Facebook group – that it would be a good idea to do a live stream through the group. Rob already has regular 1 hour 45s mixes from members of the group which he releases weekly on mixcloud. Rob liked the idea and we set about working out the finer details of how to run it.
As the group has DJ’s from across the globe we decided that we could run it as a continuous 24 hour live stream. We put out a call in the group for DJ’s to take part and before too long we had filled all of the 24 1 hour slots. We also had a healthy waiting list of DJ’s for future events. After some logistical planning and timezone conversions, in particular people outside of the UK realising that we are on British Standard Time (BST) currently as opposed to GMT, I drew up the running order.
We start with Rob himself kicking things off in Australia at 06:00 BST (15:00 AEST, 01:00 EST, 07:00 CET), then move through to the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy. North Macedonia, USA and finish up in Mexico with Loopdrop Kid’s set at 05:00 BST (14:00 AEST, 00:00 EST, 06:00 CET).
Christian Beerman did an ace job on the graphic design for the posters and initial promo video. Dave Cowan produced some great how to guides to help ensure each DJ could set up and stream at the event regardless of their previous experience. All of the DJ’s have stepped up to help promote the event reflecting the great community and friendship of the group.
So the result is 25 DJ’s (Enzo Pietanza and Keedoman are doing a back to back set from Italy) playing all 45s live for 24 Hours across the world. Its going to be a great event and hopefully the first of many.
