We Love 45s Eastbourne | Art at Cafe Joon
In collaboration with Eastbourne Sketchbook Club
We Love 45s comes to Eastbourne with a brand new creative concept, bringing together vinyl culture and local art in collaboration with Eastbourne Sketchbook Club.
Taking place at Cafe Joon on Saturday 21 March, this special session invites you to create artwork directly onto 7” vinyl records (45s) using Posca pens and acrylic markers. Whether you’re part of the Sketchbook Club, a practicing artist, or just want to try something different, the idea is simple, pick a record and make it your own.
This builds on previous We Love 45s events which have featured street artists, exhibitions, and open doodle spaces, but this is the first time the record itself becomes the canvas.
Some materials will be provided but please bring your own paints, acrylics and poscas, along with a selection of records ready to be transformed. You’re free to create whatever you like abstract, detailed, playful or experimental.
As part of the project, we’re aiming to create 45 unique pieces of vinyl art. If you’re happy for your work to be included, selected records will be collected and featured in a future exhibition at The Underground Theatre on 4 July, where they will be displayed and sold in a crate style format just like digging through records.
Proceeds from the exhibition will go towards supporting Eastbourne Creative, continuing the connection between art, community and culture.
There will also be a musical backdrop throughout the session, with selections played on 7” vinyl to keep the atmosphere flowing.
This is an open, inclusive and relaxed creative session come down, connect, and be part of something unique in Eastbourne.
