What is 45 Day?
45 Day is a worldwide celebration of 7″ vinyl culture, held each year on 04 May (04.05). Now in its 7th year, the project centres around DJs recording 45 minute mixes using 7″ records, alongside live events, a global livestream, and much more.
Built on the unique energy of 45s, 45 Day celebrates the art of vinyl DJing, creative selection, and the challenge of telling a musical story through 7″ vinyl. From soul to hip hop, reggae to world music, every set reflects the diversity and depth of the format.
What began as a simple idea has grown into a global movement, connecting DJs, collectors and music lovers across continents. Designed to be inclusive and accessible, 45 Day invites participants of all styles and experience levels to take part, united by a shared passion for vinyl, community, and creativity.
The Story Behind 45 Day
45 Day was created in 2019 by Criztoz, with a simple idea: to bring people together around the world to play 7″ vinyl on one shared day each year. A global moment built around 45s, community, and connection.
Before the concept could fully take hold, the world changed. With the arrival of COVID-19, the project moved online, evolving into a new format where DJs were invited to record 45 minute mixes using 7″ vinyl. What began as a response to circumstance quickly became the foundation of something much bigger.
From there, 45 Day continued to grow. Mixes led to Mixcloud radio shows, live streams, and talk shows that went beyond music, including open conversations around mental health. The community expanded further with projects like 45 Kids, creating space for the next generation of vinyl DJs to get involved.
As the world reopened, 45 Day returned to physical spaces, giving rise to live events under the We Love 45s banner, bringing the online community into real-world venues, record shops, and dancefloors.
What started as a single idea has become a global movement, built on creativity, inclusivity, and a shared love of 7″ vinyl.

Send the recording to us. It can be hosted on the 45 Day Mixcloud channel if you do not have Mixcloud Pro or space on your own channel.
