2022 was 45 Day’s busiest year yet as the community of amazing 45 Kings, Queens and Kids continues to grow. Thank you for all your support over the last year and I look forward to connecting with you more in 2023.

2022 Recap

Below is a recap of 2022’s activities.

45 Day Mixes

This year I curated 135 45 Day 2022 mixes including from DJ’s making their debut and joining the 45 Day community. I also organised a 36 Hour worldwide twitch raid event including being a guest on Dusty Donuts Wednesdays on Wax Talk show.

I updated the entire website so that every DJ who has recorded a 45 Day mix now has their own profile page comprising a pic, bio, social media links and links to their 45 Day mixes and any of my talk shows they have appeared on. It is a great database for discovering your

I launched the 45 Day Uplifting Mix project inviting you to record a 45 minute mix of 45s that lift your spirits inspired by Mark Lancaster and his question during the first episode of Part of my Journey my mental health talk show. To date I have curated 53 amazingly uplifting mixes all available on the website on my Mixcloud stream. It is an ongoing project so if you would like to record a mix or indeed another mix then all the info is in this link.

DJ Kat the Kat-a-lyst became the 45th 45 Queen to do a 45 Day mix.

45 Day Live

In February I was invited to play at the closing party of Matt Baila‘s venue in Swindon and got to meet up with some of my fellow 45ers in real life for the first time.

In March my daughter Zizi45 played alongside fellow 45 Kid Evie Wonder at a street food festival in Great Yarmouth. Kutclass and I organised a Sunday 7’s session at the Star of KIngs pub in London with sets from 14 DJ;s from around the UK.

In April I travelled to Edinburgh to hang out with Scottieboy and play a two night session at Superico Cocktail bar. On Record Store Day I played at Overdraft Records in Southampton and at Deadwax Social in Brighton.

At the start of May I joined the Get It Together crew to play at the Brewhouse Project. Later in the month Zizi45 played her first festival gig at Eledrflower festival where I also spun a couple of sets.

June saw Sam Tweaks and myself play a series of sets at Glastonbury 2022.

In July Zizi45 and I played at a local street festival and I headed back to Edinburgh for another 2 night session at Superico featuring a great collection of 45s DJ from around the UK.

In August i played at my first Boomtown festival, in Chester with T2Funk and also a Sunday 7’s session in Glasgow organised by WeeG and Nic Goodlife.

In September I played a 45 Dubs session at Printers Playhouse, with Zizi45 at Carry on Campout festival and at Missing People’s sunday session.

In October I played between acts at a local Comedy night.

On NYE I played at a private party in an awesome new local space.

45 Day Raid Events

45 Funksters – Sideshow Maule and I celebrated the one year anniversary and hosted 12 monthly editions of the all funk 45 raid event.

45 Raiders – Sam Tweaks and I celebrated the two year anniversary and hosted 9 editions of our themed 45s raid event.

45 Dubs – 2 editions of the dub and reggae versions raid event

24-7 – 3 editions of 24 hour 7’s raid event co-curated with special guests

45 Kids

The 45 Kids had 3 shows in 2022 on the Forty Five Kings Collective Twitch channel and have raised £766 for Jessie’s Fund a UK music therapy charity which helps children with special needs and in hospices.
